DECEMBER

A few pictures to show what I got up to in December, when I neglected my little world on the internet!

Birmingham's German Market!

Bowling for Barnardo's
At sixth form we dressed up and went bowling all in aid to raise money for the good work they do at the charity Barnardo's - (www.barnardos.org.uk)

My friend's and I dressed as Avatars! Which was so so fun!

                                                           Work's Christmas Party!

                                              Pantomime and Chinese with the work girlies!
This year the panto was Sleeping Beauty and it was absolutely FAAABBBULOUS! Very, very funny and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't already seen it.

IT'S CHRISTMAS!

Today marks the last Christmas I will experience as a 'child'. Next Christmas I will be 18 years old, meaning my first Christmas as an 'adult'. Therefore my mom has decided to tell all distant relatives who send £10 notes (which soon add up) to stop. This is sad, and I feel it marks the end of an era. Although today has been an extremely good end to that era, I have being very spoilt. My parents have got me an apple macbook air (which I am using right now). It's absolutely fab! I love it already! My boyfriend got me a pandora bracelet - a silver one as I already have a purple leather one. He also got me a purse, which is lovely, and a huge Ted Baker gift set. I've also had lots of little presents which I am extremely grateful for like knee-high boots, jewellery etcetera.

Hope all of you bloggers have had wonderful Christmas's. I do apologise for the lack of blog posts this month, I promise to be back on track in the new year. Especially now I have this new snazzy macbook.

Things i've learnt in my year as a waitress!

Thought id enlighten you all into my life a little bit, I have been working part time (alongside sixth form) as a waitress for about a year and 3 months. In this time I have come accross some essential information you just must know to do this job.

1) The boss is always right.
2) The chefs are always right.
3) The customer is always right.
4) You are never right.

10 Things To Do Before Christmas!!

Its only mid-November, but Christmas will come and go before we know it!
What I plan to WILL DO before the big day!
  1. Visit the German Market and eat something German associated whilst there! Pretzel anyone?
  2. Buy an outfit for Christmas Day! Something practical as I am working Christmas Day lunch :(
  3. Buy an outfit for New Years Eve! This however, does not need to be 'practical'.
  4. Sort out Secret Santa with the girls! ***Money saving technique****
  5. Buy my family and boyfriend presents, money money money.
  6. Send of my UCAS!
  7. Complete all school work for a stress-free(ish) Christmas!
  8. Have a movie night watching Christmas Films and snuggling up with lots of blankets and hot chocolate/mince pies. The Grinch and Miracle on 34th Street are definitely on the line-up.
  9. Make gingerbread men or mince pies (without burning or giving someone food poisoning)
  10. Make a snowman and snowangels, will however need Snow to complete this one! Please Lord!

It All Feels Right

I am in such a good place right now. I am absolutely loving life! I'm not sure wether its the season and were nearing towards Christmas, its colder, and cosier and I can drink tea all day and snuggle up to my boyfriend without feeling guilty because well its nearly Christmas!

I don't know what it is about this time of year but everyone seems to be happier, then again I say that in the summer. Pathetic fallacy comes to mind, maybe the sun brings out the brightness of our personalities. But then, how can we make sense of the Winter? Maybe its the lights - the Christmas lights, the fire, the music. Even though I realise it is November, I'm still beginning to feel it. I'm planning Christmas presents, and what I'm going to do over Christmas. Its all SO exciting!

I am so busy at the moment as well! Which is great as there is never a dull moment! I have recently signed up to the leisure centre, meaning i have free access to the gym, the swimming pool and all the classes. I am very motivated to make use of it, next week I've booked onto spinning and TRX! Am I mad? I think I might be.

I've been with my boyfriend for almost a year now, a year on the 29th December to be precise. Very romantic time - I know. I have booked that weekend of work so hopefully we can spend all weekend together, and be all cosy and cute as it will be freezing outside, and it could be snowing! But I doubt it. As here in England, it will probably be sunny over Christmas and then snow in August. Haha! Crazy weather! What are you doing mother nature?!

I've had a wobbly time recently, up and down - not for any particular reason, just one of those times i think. Friendship problems etcetera. But it all seems to be looking up now! As cliche as it sounds, if your going through a hard time, keep going. It will get better. Life has a funny way of treating us, but you've just got to go with it, it will all make sense soon enough. Wow deep for a Wednesday morning!

What's in?

As a 17 year old girl, I would consider myself quite 'in' with the fashion and trends. After a day of shopping at the Bullring in Birmingham I thought i'd do a quick blog post on my finds and what appears to be in right now.

1) Right. So the first 'trend' dominating the shops is black and white clothing; b&w stripes, squares, random patters, on tops, on leggings, on coats aswell!

Here is a picture of the b&w trend on the catwalks earlier this year.

Here is the top I purchased today:

It is from Republic and it cost me £12. I love this top as it is very versitile. It could be dressed up - by wearing it with a leather skirt and some black heels - or dressed down, with jeans, boots and a leather jacket.

Here are the leggings I purchased today:

These leggins are from H&M and cost me £7.99, which is a complete bargain, as I wear leggings day in day out, so for me leggings are essential for the wardrobe. I'd pair these leggings with a bright jumper, some converse and a coat in the winter months.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) The second trend i've noticed in the shops is something known as a 'wrap' skirt.

Examples of wrap skirts in the high street stores:

TOPSHOP!

Silk Wrap Skirt By Boutique

http://www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/silk-wrap-skirt-by-boutique-2021789

The wrap skirt I brought today was from Firetrap.

This skirt was £25:00 and i've fallen in love with it. This is a piece you can dress down, with black tights, black boots, a plain top and a cardigan. However you can also dress it up, on the USC website (http://www.usc.co.uk/rock-and-rags-by-firetrap-baroque-top-657255) there is the matching top for the skirt, which creates a 'Two-piece' another popular current trend. By wearing the skirt and matching top you have an evening outfit, which you could pair with some heels  and a clutch bag! Perfecto.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) The third trend which is absolutely everywhere right now is Tartan! If you didn't already know this, what planet are you on?! The shops are filled with tartan, I absolutely love this trend. I have already bought a dress onnline in tartan pattern from dollybowbow.

The dress looks like this:

It is £28:00 and i think its beautiful! I'd pair with black tights, black boots and a long coat.

And the second item I have bought in Tartan is a scarf:

Red Traditional Check Scarf    Photo 1 of Red Traditional Check Scarf

The scarf was £14.00, it is not typically red patterened but instead it has a twist and is a more orangey colour. I love it! As it is a scarf i will obviously be wearing it on colder days, the bright orange will add colour to my outfit.

HALLOWEEN!

I love halloween!

I have just got back from Brownies (I am not a brownie, obviously - as I am not 9 years old). I am a young leader! Tonight was our halloween party, all the girls came dressed up, and I mean really dressed up - broomsticks, pointy hats, scary make-up - the lot. It makes me so excited and so jealous of them, I want to be young again and dress up for halloween and not care.

We have our halloween social on Friday for sixth form, which everyone is moaning about as apparently not many people are going, and those that are aren't dressing up. So that sucks!

Me and my friends are also planning on pumpkin carving one day during half term, which is mega exciting as I've never done it! I can't decide wether to be traditional and do a smiley face, or do something out the ordinary and attempt to be 'creative'. Watch this space! I will keep you informed on that.

My sister is having her friends round to watch Paranormal Activity 4. So me and my boyf will probably crash and watch it too. Which will be so funny as he hates scary films and I love them.

Besides all that I'm not sure what else is going on in my life regarding Halloween!

But its bonfire night soon which makes me even more excited as I love that too!

All of this is so exciting, I love this time of year and the build up to Christmas! It's so warm and cosy and lovely and everythings calm and everyones happy! It's absolutely fandabbydosey.

Frustration

I am so so frustrated with my school.
They have told me TODAY that my whole UCAS application has to be paid and sent by Monday morning at 9:15. Today is Friday. That means I have tonight, tomorrow and Sunday to do it.

HOWEVER

1) I still haven't got 5 choices, I've only been to 2 open days.
2) My form teacher still hasn't read my personal statement, so obviously I have had no feedback. Baring in mind I gave him my personal statement at least 3 months ago!!
3) I'm working all fricken weekend.

My school is an absolute joke. Why tell us today? How annoying and frustrating.
ARGH STRESS!

New hair!?

Phoebe-Lettice Thompson from Made In Chelsea.

I absolutely love Phoebe's look. I love her look, its edgy and exciting and very out there. Shes so confident with what she wears. I wish I was more like that, a bit more confident and out there with the clothes I wear. This is the way I am going to have my hair cut next. My best friend is a hairdresser and I think I'm willing to let her do this. I'm scared but oh well, I really really like the short hair look.

and look at those sunglasses! wow!

WHAT DO I DO

This year i've got some decisions to make, some pretty big ones regarding University.
My head is in a merhhghwe over it all. (I know thats not a word, but thats how i feel OK?)
I am split in two.

ONE HALF.

'I really want to stay round here and go to a local university, my family are here, my friends are here, my boyfriend is here, my job is here, everything i know and everything im comfortable with is here in this city. Why would i move? There are good uni's right on the doorstep offering the course i want to do. Ill come home and have a cooked dinner for me everynight and my room and all my things i've always had. Im quite content in my little bubble here, with everything just where i need it. Why move? Its hassle, its scary, its a big thing.'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OTHER HALF.
'I can't wait to get away, away from all the drama here. Sure i'll miss my family, and my boyfriend but i can come home and visit, they can come see me and visit. I can't wait to move away, start a fresh. No drama following me. I get to meet new people, and learn about a completely new city. I get to experience life on my own, fend for myself, cook for myself. Think how many skills i will gain. How many new people will impact my life. Its so exciting, its a crazy thing to think this time next year i could be living in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Scotland. The world is my oyster. There are so many opportunities out there for me, as i'm young i feel i should grab those opportunities, every single one of them. Uni being the first thing to open the doors for me.'
TWIL #Week1
This Week I'm Loving!
This pink nail varnish, limited addition at Barry M.
The colour is lovely, very bright and stands out. I love it as it allows my nails to stand out against my sixth form uniform (which is office wear). This colour is a definite must for me over the winter, as it lets me hold on to summer colours in the dull and dim English weather!
London Fashion Weekend!
On the 21st September me and my girls went to Vodafone's London Fashion Weekend at Somerset House. We had a fabalooo day, I didn't buy anything because everything was very expensive haha. But all lovely, lovely clothes.
We went to the show at 3:00 and qued 40 minutes prior to the opening of the doors in order to get good seats haha! It worked we were on the second row!
After the show we went to the Lounge area where fashion journalist Hilary Alexander was doing a talk and question/answer session on her job and her experiences. Which I found amazing!
What I wore:
Patterned leggings coloured blue and black which are from Primark, a white crop top from Topshop, a pink patterned blazer from Warehouse in Debenhams, I wore my white converse on my feet and carried all my stuff round in a black bag with a snake skin pattern each side which is from Clarks.
Me and my friends before going into the show!
Me outside whilst eating lunch, I had waffles and homemade blueberry jam with a cup of tea.
It was delicous!
Do i want to go to Uni????
Very stressed at the moment as were currently in the process of applying for UCAS and sorting out our options for uni.
I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO!
I'm not even sure what i want to study, let alone where i'd like to go to study it.
So what do I do?
Do I not go?
Do I apply?
Ahhhh to many things to think about.
I'm torn between Journalism/English/Media courses and Health and Social Care courses, so social work, nursing etc.
I am so confused.
I think I will end up taking a year out while I figure it out, but what do I do in the meantime?
My school have literally offered us no help with these decisions.
sad face emoticon facebook
If anybody has any advice they wish to give me, I would be so grateful!!
AS Results!!
Today i got my AS results back.
My results:
English - C
R.E - A
Health & Social - A
I am very very happy, i didn't think I'd do that well. ( I assumed B's and C's)
So i am definitely into my next year at sixth form to continue my A-Levels, which i am completely chuffed about. All of my friends did well, but some of them not as well as they hoped and a couple are contemplating leaving sixth form :(!
My boyfriend also passed all 3 of his AS levels, he also got the green letter meaning he's definitely into next year. Thank-God! Haha.
I only did 3 AS subjects so i will just keep all 3 on next year, and hopefully continue with the good work.
Hope you all did well, and got the grades you needed and wanted.
As well, grades aren't everything. A letter on a piece of paper should not dictate your future.
PASSED MY DRIVING TEST!!!!
Wooooooooooo!!!
Last week (Wednesday 24th July) I passed the UK driving test!
I am so relieved and happy, after working very hard to pass the test, it took me 4 months to do it!
I had an examiner named John ( i think ) he was lovely and kind, he made me feel comfortable and calmed me down as I was quite nervous.
During the test my manoeuvre was 'reverse round a corner' i was quite wide on the manoeuvre but because i still checked all around me my observation saved me and therefore I didn't get any minors for that. Thank Goodness! Then i also had emergency stop on my test. During this I never looked around my right shoulder (blind spot) when driving of, therefore i assumed I had failed my driving test. I was grumpy for the rest of the test after that.
All in all, i only got 4 minors! Which i was very proud of.
I have a little Clio which i drive around, its an 02 reg so it is quite an old car. Oh well! I love it! I feel free and i can go wherever, whenever.
My tips if you are learning to drive or have your test soon!
  1. Have as many lessons as you can afford. I had double lessons weekly, and sometimes twice a week. Therefore i was sometimes having 4 lessons a week. This was obviously quite expensive, but it meant i passed my test quite quickly, and i felt a lot more comfortable on the roads once I'd passed as i had already had quite a lot of experience, more so than some of my friends who just have one lesson a week.
  2. If you can, drive in a car other than your instructors (either your own car, or your parents if they'll insure you on it) this also brings up your confidence and you will notice the difference.
  3. Follow driving instructors on twitter/facebook or download an app with tips. I personally followed 'Ukadi' on twitter, who gave tips every day on safe driving and passing the UK test.
  4. Ask your instructor if you are unsure, I built a great relationship with my instructor and I felt very comfortable around her, I wasn't nervous or embarrassed to ask her a question or ask her to demonstrate what she meant (like a manoeuvre).
Where have i been?!?!
Holaa blogger!
I do realise I have been neglecting my blog, and I have missed many days of the '31 day blog challenge'! Sorry!!
I have been uber busy considering it is the summer here in England, and the summer holidays, therefore I am off school.
I am here, there and everywhere. Working a lot more over the summer too, therefore I havent had time to sit down and write on here.
I am very sorry, and I will be back on track. I may, however, not carry on with the 31 day blog challenge, cos at the moment there is a lot more interesting things I would like to share with you all on the world wide web!
But I may resume the challenge it if my life becomes boring once again! Haha!
Adios amigos!
Day #11 - '15 of your favourite things'
  1. My family/friends/boyfriend. All the closest people to me. Obviously.
  2. My car - which hopefully i will be able to drive soon (test is in two weeks AHHH SCARY)
  3. Cups of tea. A must.
  4. My Pandora ring, which was a 16th birthday present of my parents.
  5. My Pandora bracelet and all the charms, each charm bought of someone close to me all with different meanings and explanations!
  6. My room. All my photos on the walls, and pretty colours and decorations. I love my room and how i've made it my own.
  7. The sun, summer. Everyone is 10x happier when its sunny, there are so many more things to do. Going on a walk is normally boring, but with the sun shining, and the warm air its a lovely thing to do.
  8. Holidays and no school, i love the feeling of spontaneous living. Not having to think about what needs to be done all the time.
  9. Pizza. I use to hate pizza as a child, but now i absolutely love pizza. I don't know why. It's so easy to make, its so yummy, theres so many different types and toppings. Its quick to make, quick to eat.
  10. My boyfriend. He is one of my ultimate favourite things obviously. He makes everything 10x better.
  11. Money. I work 3 or 4 times a week to get money, i would hate the idea of not having any money on me or with me. I also hate asking for money, or parents giving me money. I would much rather earn it myself.
  12. Movie days, pajama days. Chill days, no make up, no worries, just chilling, with chocolate and ice-cream and your favourite films.
  13. God + Jesus. I love the feeling of knowing there is something higher than us, somehting better than us, someone looking over us and looking out for us. I think by believing in God and having christian beliefs and thoughts it makes my life easier and better. The internet and social networking. Even though its a sad thing to say, i love knowing what my friends are doing, and keeping in touch with people. Following celebrities on twitter etc.
  14. Swimming and swimming in the sea. Its so relaxing!
Day #10 - 'Best physical feature'
As a typical 17 year old girl, i am VERY insecure, and in all honesty i do not believe i have a 'best physical feature'. And even if i did, i'd feel really vain writing about it on here.
Things people have said my best physical feature is:
- My smile
- My eyes
(very, very typical compliments so probably not true haha)
Day #9 - 'What are your worst habits?'
My main worst habit is procrastinating, i put of work and important things and sit on my computer scrolling through twitter feed or tumblr. Or i will just lie on my bed and thing about everything instead of doing something rather important.
I will literally put of important things such as coursework or i don't know but i will save it until the last possible time that it would need to be done.
My other bad habit is eating and snacking. If i'm bored ill eat, and pick at food. Even if i'm not hungry or my dinner is gonna be like 10 minutes!
I tend to argue my point of view too much as well, and i'm quite stubborn with it. Which could be considered a bad habit.
Monday 8 July 2013
Day #8 - 'Whats in your handbag?'
Lol what don't i have in my handbag? I take everything with me on my travels as i fear not having something when i need it.
Purse
Keys
Phone
Tissues
Mints/Chewing gum
Nail Varnish
Spray/Perfume
Pens
Earphones
Umbrella (common sense if you live in England)
Sunglasses
Make-Up
Bottle of Water
Paracetamol
like a bloomin Mary Poppins bag haha!
Monday 1 July 2013
Day #7 - 'My Pet Hates'
One of my biggest pet hates is miserable and unhelpful people. I work as a waitress as a part-time job and it annoys me so much when customers are miserable and rude. Especially when they can clearly see you struggling to balance 3/4 plates on your arm and stretching over them to reach the other plate - why not give us a hand? Instead of watching us struggle! Who else has this problem!!?
Another pet hate is when people don't wash their hands before eating/cooking or when coming out of the toilet. My dad is THE biggest culprit for this! When i was in primary school, someone taught me all about germs and as a child i obviously saw washing your hands as a big deal. It has always stuck with me, when my dad doesn't wash his hands i just imagine all the germs spreading through the house. Ew!
Finally, selfish people. People who are literally only in it for themselves. How can some people be THAT selfish?! I could rant about this all day. So i wont bore you with personal stories. Unless you want me to! If you do comment and ill make a separate post about all the selfish people i come across.
Monday 24 June 2013
Day #6 'Your 5 senses right now'
5 Senses!
  • See - Well i'm in my bedroom, so i can see all my things, but predominantly right now i'm looking at the computer screen (obviously). And i'm researching into my gap year, which i'm hoping to take next year, before going to University. I'm looking at doing a gap year with project trust after a lady came in to our sixth form and did a presentation on it today. It looks so exciting! I'm definitely going to look further into it
  • Hear - Right now i can hear my sister running a bath and singing very loudly Olly Murs - 'dear darlin'. Fab song! I absolutely love Olly Murs! Hes fab!
  • Smell - Well i cant smell anything actually, i suppose I've been in my room for a while so any smells lingering my nose will have got used to.
  • Taste - I've just had my dinner, so i can still taste chicken and mash, and the onion i had in the salad. I'm about to go downstairs and make a cuppa and have a piece of cake! So my taste will soon be changing. Mmmm we have some of my sisters cake she made in food tech downstairs - White Chocolate and Cranberries! Delicious!
  • Touch - Well i'm obviously touching the keyboard of my computer to be writing this blog post. But i was just painting my nails. So obviously, i was touching the nail varnish. I also keep playing with my phone as i'm having lots of snapchat conversations haha!
Sunday 23 June 2013
Day #5 'Songs you love right now'
Coincidental how whilst writing this post I'm watching the UK Top 40! I've just got back from the University of Worcester open day. I'm really tired after working till midnight last night and walking round the uni all day today, so I'm in front of the TV with a cuppa and writing about my favourite music, chillaxing! Haha!
I have no real specific music taste if I'm being honest, i just like certain songs by certain artists, although i am a bit of a typical girl and I'm a pretty big fan of Justin Bieber and One Direction (please don't hate me). Oh and Taylor Swift; i absolutely LOVE.
Song of the week!
The Voice's Leah McFall - Killing me softly!
WOW! I haven't been watching the voice! But my God, i heard this song on the radio, and i was hooked to the song until it finished. Then i youtubed her, and all her other performances. She is amazing! I cannot wait for her to release her own music once the show is over.
Friday 21 June 2013
Day #4 'What are you afraid of?'
My fears
Ornithophobia  - Fear of birds!! I'm not like terrified of all birds or anything, its not a serious fear. I just completely despise and hate pigeons, they're the worst thing! I hate them so much, i don't even know why its because there so dirty and horrible and there everywhere! They fly so low and almost bash into my head and urgh, there SO vile. Seriously!
Wednesday 19 June 2013
Day #3 - 'Your favourite quote'
                     'A day without laughter is a day wasted'
I think it is so important to stay happy and smiley in life, I try to smile and laugh each day of my life. You never know which day will be your last, and that's a depressing thought. But it emphasizes the fact that, if today was your last day? You would want it to be a good day, wouldn't you? Laughing and smiling is bound to make any day better. I think it is so important to surround yourself with people who make you laugh and make you smile, and bring out the best in you.
That's what I do now. I keep people I don't like and people who bring out the worst in me at arms length, literally only talk or associate with them if completely necessary. Therefore i avoid any discomfort, and can maximize the time I can spend with people i love and who make me smile and laugh
Tuesday 18 June 2013
Day #1 of the 31 Day Blog Challenge
Day #1
Introduction and recent picture :)
So guys this is my blog, My name is Jodie and i am your typical teenage girl, im 17 years old and im from England, the west midlands to be exact.
I've always wanted to start a blog but never really known how, i don't really know what to write about either, so thats why im starting of with his 31 day blog challenge. The rest will be my thoughts, opinions and stories i want to share :) Enjoy!
This was when i was the model for my bestfriends competition, she is traning to be a hairdresser so i was her model, i had to walk down a catwalk and everything it was VERY scary but it was fun at the same time, my friend ended up winning the competion and she won a trip to Paris to visit some salons! Very cool!
This is me and Molly (my sister) at our auntys wedding. The wedding was on the 28th December last year. It was a lovely day, my dress was the dress i wore to my prom the previous summer, and it was from a little shop in Worcestor, i think it was about £95. My sister dress was also really nice, it was down to her ankles and very tight - she can pull it of as she is a runner and has an amazing figure. Her dress was silver - as you can kind of tell from the picture, it was from New Look but im not sure how much it was. Hannah (my friend training to be a hairdresser did both of our hairs).
